The UN General Assembly demands in a new resolution that Russia withdraws its military and personnel from the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, and immediately returns the facility to Ukraine.
In the resolution, "great concern is expressed for the severe nuclear safety and security situation at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant". Furthermore, the demand is repeated that Russia immediately "ceases its aggression against Ukraine" and withdraws all soldiers.
99 countries voted in favor of the resolution. Nine voted against: Russia, Belarus, Cuba, Eritrea, Mali, Nicaragua, Syria, Burundi, and North Korea.
60 countries that attended the voting abstained from voting, including China, India, South Africa, and many countries in the Middle East.
