"Ukrainian paratroopers with associated units captured 27 enemy soldiers in the Kursk region", the message reads.
The task is difficult for outsiders to verify and has not been confirmed from the Russian side. According to Ukraine, the captured soldiers surrendered and handed themselves over.
On Wednesday, it was announced that Ukraine and Russia had carried out an exchange of prisoners of war – 25 from each side – as a result of mediation by the United Arab Emirates.
Ukraine launched a surprise counteroffensive into Russian Kursk in August last year and controls part of the region.
