It was on December 17 that it was discovered that spaces to a water reservoir in Bollebygd were not locked. Around 800 affected residents received restrictions on the use of water and water tanks were placed out.
Although the restrictions have been somewhat eased, residents are still advised not to drink tap water or use it for cooking.
We understand that it has been tough for these municipal residents who have been affected. And we apologize for that. But we had no choice but to act on the principle of caution, says Ulf Krüger, head of the technical and service administration in Bollebygd municipality.
Final test results
The final tests are expected to be fully analyzed on January 2 or 3, and if the results are good, the restrictions will be lifted as soon as possible, according to Krüger.
On December 23, the police were also alerted to a raw water intake in Tranemo after an alarm about a broken lock. Here, too, residents are advised not to drink or cook with tap water.
In Bollebygd, the incident is being investigated as suspected sabotage. In Tranemo, it is being investigated as an attempted suspected sabotage.
Given the current situation, we take it very seriously in both cases, regardless of whether it's an attempt or suspected sabotage, says Fredrik Svedemyr, press spokesperson for Police Region West.
No suspect
The police are also looking into whether there is any connection between the different incidents.
But at present, there is nothing that confirms it, says Fredrik Svedemyr.
There is no suspect for the crimes.
