In the election campaign, Donald Trump promised on several occasions that he would introduce high import tariffs against China.
In an interview with Fox News, he now says that it may be possible to reach an agreement with China on both Taiwan and tariffs.
"We have a very strong bargaining position against China, through tariffs, and they don't want them, and I would rather not introduce them. But it's a huge power we have over them", says Trump in the interview.
Since he took office as president on Monday, Donald Trump has said that tariffs of 10 percent against China could be introduced on February 1. During the campaign, he spoke of tariffs of up to 60 percent.
