This is the meaning of one of the decrees that newly inaugurated President Donald Trump signed on his first day on the job. Previously, it was stated that refugees would be allowed entry until January 27, a window that is now closed.
The authority that administers the process states, according to AP, that all "refugees' arrival in the USA is cancelled until further notice".
The refugees who have applied for permission to come to the USA and booked tickets are now stranded. This includes, among others, over 1,600 Afghans who either themselves or whose relatives have worked for the American military and been granted residence permits after the USA left Afghanistan when the Taliban regime took back power in 2021.
