Sweden's National Archivist Karin Åström Iko describes President Donald Trump's decision to fire the head of the American National Archives, Colleen J Shogan, as "terrible", according to Swedish Radio's Culture News.

It is extremely important that the archives' content is not politicized, says Karin Åström Iko to Kulturnytt.

Colleen J Shogan became the head of the US National Archives in 2023 and Donald Trump had already previously stated in a radio interview that he wanted to replace her, according to CBS. Trump expressed his dissatisfaction with the agency that informed the US Department of Justice about his handling of classified documents after the previous term.

When the FBI conducted a raid at Donald Trump's home, 33 boxes of classified documents were found in his residence.

However, all criminal charges were dropped when Trump was re-elected.

Corrected: In an earlier version, both Shogan and Åström Iko had incorrect titles.
