U2 wants the band's audience to know not only how the band reasons collectively, but also how the members think each one about the ongoing war in Gaza. "We know that Hamas uses starvation as a weapon in the war, but now Israel is also doing it and I feel disgust for the moral failure", writes Bono in his statement.

After the Israeli security cabinet and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced their plans to occupy Gaza City as well, the band's four members are now making their own statements on U2's website and Instagram account:

"The Israeli government, led by Benjamin Netanyahu, deserves today our categorical and unequivocal condemnation," writes singer Bono, who also condemns the former Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar.

The other three band members, Clayton, the Edge and Mullen Jr, stand behind Bono's condemnation of both Israel and Hamas and at the same time urge that aid should be allowed into Gaza, notes Pitchfork, but only the Edge uses terms such as "ethnic cleansing" and "colonial genocide".

U2 has also announced that the band is donating money to British healthcare efforts for Palestinians.
