A train carrying hazardous goods collided with an excavator that was standing on the track in Harrträsk, just south of Gällivare, during Wednesday morning, writes SVT News Norrbotten.
For unclear reasons, the excavator was standing on the track and the train did not have time to brake, says the SOS operator to SVT.
The police reported during the afternoon that the driver of the excavator has died.
The police will now investigate how the accident occurred. The case is being handled as manslaughter in connection with a workplace accident. There is no suspect yet.
