The Tivoli section of Kivik's market has reopened after Friday's fatal accident. This follows an inspection, reports Ystads Allehanda.
The Tivoli was closed after Friday's fatal accident but reopened at lunchtime on Saturday after an inspection, reports Ystads Allehanda. Simrishamn municipality also has crisis support on site for anyone who wants to talk during the day.
The market opened as scheduled in the morning, but several stalls struggled with their tents, which were blown away by Friday's strong winds.
The atmosphere at the market is very bad. Many stalls have had their tents blown away. It doesn't look good at all. We're trying to help them set up their tents, says Anders Strand, consultant in charge of the stalls, to TT.
The market, with its 500-600 stalls, will continue as planned until Monday, according to Strand.
Everyone wants to try and everyone feels a deep tragedy about this. Some stalls have left because their tents were blown away.
A man died
A gust of wind caused the market stall to overturn onto visitors on Friday afternoon.
This stall was purchased by my father 20 years ago and nothing has happened in 20 years. This has never happened before, said Tony Andreasson, CEO of the Tivoli, to Expressen on Friday.
Four people were injured. One injured person was taken to hospital and two people were referred to a health centre. A 55-year-old man died.
I'm so terribly sorry. I really regret what happened, says Tony Andreasson to Ystads Allehanda.
Police investigation
The police have launched a preliminary investigation into, among other things, gross negligence leading to another's death, and a forensic investigation has been completed.
We have held interviews with witnesses and other people on site. We're done on site. Then further investigative measures will be taken on Monday, says Filip Annas, press spokesperson for the police region south.
