The work to rectify a broken pipe at reactor 3 was supposed to be finished on August 15, but has been delayed.

The fault to be rectified concerns a leak and is classified as the most serious incident in five years at a Swedish nuclear power plant, according to the Swedish Radiation Safety Authority.

In March this year, the reactor was taken out of operation for annual maintenance and during the revision, a crack was discovered in a pipe that had broken. Due to the crack's position, the leak is classified as serious and the reactor may not be restarted until it has been approved by the Swedish Radiation Safety Authority.

Right now, there is no risk associated with the damage and the reactor tank is empty, says Francesco Cadinu, inspector, Swedish Radiation Safety Authority, to SR.

The nuclear power plant is expected to be back in operation on September 17, according to OKG's website.
