Under the rebuilt lorry's flatbed lay bags containing nearly 300 kilos of drugs. Now three men are being prosecuted for suspected aggravated drug smuggling.
The smuggling attempt was discovered when the men, in two vehicles, arrived in Gothenburg by ferry from Kiel in mid-February.
In one of the vehicles, a light lorry, Customs found 122.7 kilos of amphetamine and 170.8 kilos of cannabis resin, which had been concealed in a so-called lead shield under the flatbed.
According to the authority, the drugs would have been worth approximately 46 million kronor on the abuse market.
In the cab, a spray was also found, allegedly to deter cats and dogs.
However, it did not seem to work very well.
"The entire area was sprayed with a colourless liquid that smelled strongly of citrus. But the Customs' search dog immediately marked the vehicle where the drugs were hidden", says Marcus Carlsson, deputy head of the Customs' criminal division west, in a press release.
