This is what it takes to get the new deposit

In the fall, the deposit will increase. But it's not time to start saving old soda cans yet. It's not like you can hoard and become extremely rich, says Katarina Lundell, marketing and communications manager at Returpack/Pantamera.

In September, certain aluminum cans and PET bottles will give two kronor in deposit instead of the current one krona. Large PET bottles will simultaneously be increased from two to three kronor. However, it is a major undertaking to change the labeling of all soft drinks, mineral water, and other beverages sold in the country's stores. So, for a period, there will be double labels. Some will give one krona in deposit, others two. Opportunity to choose the right can and earn an extra krona? Not really.

The deposit label will decide, says Katarina Lundell and continues:

We have also received the question of whether this will mean that the price of soft drinks, for example, will increase, but it is not us who set the prices.

Those who for some reason still have the old labeling on their cans after September do not need to worry. The "old" labeling will be able to be deposited all the way until 2028.

We certainly have a vision that all beverages sold should be deposited, but now we are making this increase to primarily reach a 90 percent deposit rate. We are close, 88.5 at present.
