Several houses were water-damaged in western Sweden during a downpour overnight Sunday. The stormy weather will persist for a few days – but towards the middle of the week it will get warmer in large parts of the country.

It was a really wet night in parts of western Sweden. A rain area with thunder that moved in from the southwest during Saturday evening brought large amounts of rain in a short time, and the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI) had issued a yellow warning in Dalsland, Bohuslän, and Värmland.

During the night, the rescue service received at least nine alarms about water-damaged homes in Bohuslän, reports Bohusläningen.

We are at several locations and doing what we can. We are assisting with pumps and clearing one alarm after another, says Joakim Hallin, alarm and control operator at the rescue service, to the newspaper.

The rain will affect large parts of Sweden also on Sunday – although not as intensely. It is not until Sunday afternoon that it is expected to clear up in Götaland, Svealand, and southern Norrland.

"For northern Norrland, the rain will cease in the evening", writes meteorologist Emma Härenstam on SMHI's website.

At the beginning of next week, it will be partly sunny, but quite windy in large parts of the country. Showers are still expected to continue in the western and central regions.

But autumn is not here yet. From the middle of next week, the sun and warmth are expected to return in large parts of Sweden.

"At least on Wednesday and Thursday, it looks like we will have some sun with temperatures around 20-25 degrees in the south and around 20 in the north", writes the meteorologist.
