The Succénykomlingen fell – Bromé stood for playing joy

The super team Brynäs has been extremely strong at home since their comeback in SHL. But on Saturday, it stopped when Luleå – only the second away team this autumn – won in Gävle. So nice for us that we could end our "roadtrip" with a 4–3 win and three points, says Luleå forward Mathias Bromé.

Mathias Bromé was highly involved in the win.

He scored Luleå's second goal, set up the visitors' third goal and was on the ice for the 4-2 goal that proved to be decisive.

Bromé also got an unusual spark in the match.

When the teams came out for the second period, the 30-year-old was sent directly to the penalty box for an "abuse of official" in the break. So what happened?

I wonder that myself. I don't know why, actually, says Mathias Bromé to TT.

"Don't want to have an opinion"

TT: Did you say or shout something to someone on your way off the ice?

No.

TT: Was it just "go and sit down" when you came back in?

Yeah, that's correct. But I don't want to have an opinion about it.

Brynäs failed to take advantage of the situation, and if there's one thing Brynäs hasn't done very well this autumn, it's the power play.

Now, the Brynäs fans got to see Mathias Bromé increase to 2-1 for Luleå instead, and just 47 seconds after he had served his two-minute penalty.

I got extra energized! Got a good chance in the slot and could put it in on my own rebound. Nice to score, says Mathias Bromé with a big smile.

Great playing joy

Last season wasn't as nice.

Then he collided with Örebro and broke off the contract with four years left in the summer to then move to Luleå.

Mathias Bromé has let go of that schism. That he has found his place in Norrbotten is evident on the ice, where he plays with creativity and great playing joy, as halfway into Saturday's match, when Bromé elegantly deked a Brynäs defender on the bench and served Markus Nurmi, who scored 3-2 at the far post.

The time here (in Luleå) has been great. I play a lot and in many different situations, get to play with a really good team that plays good hockey. I'm feeling really good and it's fun to play hockey again.

TT: Is there something in Luleå that has given you an extra kick?

The game suits me well and that "Bulan" (Luleå coach Thomas Berglund) has given me a lot of confidence. I've grown from it. Hockey is a lot about self-confidence, and you get that when someone builds you up like they have done with me here.
