To increase knowledge and improve care for post-covid in children, the National Board of Health and Welfare and the Swedish Agency for Health Technology Assessment and Assessment of Social Services (SBU) are receiving new assignments, the government announces.

"We need a deeper understanding of how post-covid affects children and how we can best provide treatment. The current state of knowledge about post-covid is inadequate, while research in the area is increasing. Therefore, there is every reason to give these assignments now to ensure that care is based on the latest and most reliable knowledge," says Minister for Health Care Acko Ankarberg Johansson (KD) according to a press release.

The National Board of Health and Welfare will map and analyze the treatment of children diagnosed with post-covid, while SBU will compile the state of knowledge and identify knowledge gaps. The assignments are to be finalized in May 2026.
