In the beginning of next year, it was intended that the National Food Agency would present its new dietary guidelines. But now, the government is giving the agency the task of conducting a new analysis of the guidelines concerning red meat and charcuterie products.

One of the proposals for new dietary guidelines is that the recommended amount of red meat and charcuterie products should be reduced from 500 to 350 grams per week.

"When it comes to the dietary guidelines on red meat, there are still uncertainties surrounding, above all, the effects on Swedish food production, so therefore the National Food Agency is given the task of conducting an in-depth analysis of them", says Minister for Rural Affairs Peter Kullgren (KD) in a press release.

The task is to be reported by April 30th next year at the latest.
