Sweden's government is reported for not meeting EU's climate goals.
The government has pursued a policy that is hostile to the climate, it is not acceptable, says Kristina Östman, climate chief at the Nature Conservation Association, to SVT News.
Behind the report to the EU Commission, besides the Nature Conservation Association, are also the Environmental Lawyers. The criticism consists, among other things, of Sweden missing several climate goals until 2030. Including too large emissions, too low a share of renewable energy, and too little uptake of carbon dioxide in the forest.
Even Germany, Ireland, France, and Italy are reported at the same time by local environmental organizations for not meeting EU's goals.
If Sweden is convicted, "the state may be forced to take corrective measures and, if not, risk high fines", according to a press release from the Nature Conservation Association.
