Over 130 hand grenades have been found in a forest area in Jönköping, local media reports.
The remarkable find was made after a number of old hand grenades were discovered on the site by a private individual earlier this year.
This week, the municipality therefore began investigating the area, which previously functioned as a military training ground.
One thinks that the defense would clean up something like this x number of years ago. There were very many, very remarkable, says Fredrik Svärd, environmental engineer at Jönköping Municipality, to SVT News Jönköping.
The plan was to detonate the hand grenades on site on Wednesday. But due to the large quantity found, the municipality has asked the Defense Forces for help.
