The European Parliament election is underway. EU cohesion, working conditions, and above all, the climate are some of the issues that engage voters in the polling stations.

In Herrgården in Rosengård, Malmö, only five people had voted in the polling station by lunchtime. In the 2019 EU election, only just over 16% of eligible voters here voted.
Oliver Reuter was alone in line when the polling officials unlocked the door to Hästhagens sports hall in Malmö at 8am.
Among the party leaders, Social Democrat Magdalena Andersson was early to vote. She voted together with her husband Richard Friberg in Nacka a short time after opening.
Even Left Party leader Nooshi Dadgostar voted during the morning.
The first preliminary results from the vote count in the Swedish election will be published by the Election Authority at the earliest at 11pm. The final election result is expected to be ready by the coming weekend.
The election determines which politicians will represent Sweden in the European Parliament for the next five years.
This year, 7,946,261 Swedes are eligible to vote in the EU election. Of these, 572,281 are first-time voters and 194,485 are Swedish citizens living abroad.
A total of 1,340 people are running in the EU election in Sweden, according to the Election Authority. A few dozen are running for more than one party. In the 2019 EU election, 556 people ran.
Since May 22, it has been possible to vote early. Polling stations will remain open until 9pm on election day. It's still possible to vote in a local early voting location.
Sweden has 21 seats in the European Parliament.
