The New York Stock Exchange's leading index did not move significantly on Monday. However, the trading week began with modest increases.
The broad S&P 500, which has risen five of the last six weeks, gained 0.3 percent. The Dow Jones industrial index rose 0.2 percent and the technology-heavy Nasdaq composite index climbed 0.1 percent.
Tesla was among the winners, up 4.9 percent. The electric car giant has now recovered the entire decline that hit the stock earlier this year. At one point in April, it had lost 42 percent of its value, when the company decided to lower car prices to improve the weak sales figures.
