Since it became illegal for children to witness violence against relatives three years ago, around 30,000 cases of child abuse have been reported, according to SVT News, citing statistics from the Crime Prevention Council (Brå).

Of these, 4,482 cases have led to prosecution and a total of 185 prison sentences have been handed down.

There are more reported crimes during these years than the government inquiry estimated, says Rebecca Lagh, crime victim and children's rights advocate, to SVT.
