A young man and a young woman in the UK are suspected of planning a terrorist attack with right-wing extremist motives.
The two – an 18-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman – were recently arrested in the London area. On Thursday, they were formally charged with preparing to commit a terrorist offence.
The London police announce that their anti-terror unit has worked "proactively" to investigate suspected crimes linked to right-wing extremist terrorist activities.
"These are extremely serious charges, but I would advise the public not to speculate further about the case at this point and let the legal process take its course unhindered", says the head of the anti-terror police, Dominic Murphy.
According to Murphy, there is nothing to suggest that there is any further threat to the public. The case is not believed to be connected to the recent weeks' riots and xenophobic demonstrations in the UK.
