PWHL, the ladies' equivalent to NHL, has had its draft. Then, Brynäs star Maja Nylén Persson was chosen tenth by New York.
It has been clear for some time that Nylén Persson – who has been named SDHL's best defender for three years in a row – would move to the North American professional league. Now, she will be teammates with Johanna Fällman in New York.
Another Swedish player was chosen: Luleå's Anna Kjellbin to Montreal as the 35th player.
Several foreign SDHL players were also drafted, including Luleå's Daniela Pejsova, who went first in the second round (seventh player overall) to Boston.
The very first in the draft? Canadian Sarah Fillier, whose career will now continue in New York.
