Minister of Health and Social Affairs Jakob Forssmed (KD) reacts strongly to the police union's alarm about society failing people with mental illnesses.
One becomes completely desperate, it shouldn't be like that, he says to Sveriges Radio's Ekot.
In the Police Association's survey, only seven percent of the respondents believe that the collaboration between the police and psychiatry works well. The survey reveals examples of people being taken to psychiatric emergency care and being discharged after just a few hours.
Jakob Forssmed says that the regions must prioritize psychiatry. He also states that the government is working to improve collaboration with open care services within the municipalities so that patients who are discharged can be caught up.
