The government made the decision on Thursday. It includes, among other things, six agency assignments to implement the strategy, says Kullgren (KD) at a press conference.
Many measures presented at the press conference have already been communicated, for example, in this year's budget.
The entire food chain will be affected by what the government calls the "food strategy 2.0", with the guiding principles of making it more profitable, competitive, and robust.
The goal is to increase total food production, promote Swedish-produced goods, and reduce Sweden's vulnerability in the event of a crisis.
The Swedish Board of Agriculture is tasked with concretizing the objectives, announces Kullgren.
The previous strategy was adopted in 2017. Since then, Sweden's food supply has been affected by challenges such as drought, pandemic, disruptions in the global logistics chain, and the war in Ukraine.
The new strategy follows largely the 2017 decision and aims towards 2030.
Sweden is estimated to be self-sufficient to around 50 percent. Domestic production has decreased in recent decades, largely due to increased imports following EU membership.
