Suddenly, it's clear that Sven-Göran Eriksson, a patient with severe cancer, will have a square named after him in his hometown of Torsby. Now, the football icon may also get his own arena. Or rather, his own plan.
NWT writes that the newly renovated Torsby grass pitch can be named "Svennis arena" if the local politicians don't object. The decision will be made in the municipal council's committee on Monday, according to opposition councilor Ronnie Walfridsson (M).
Sven-Göran Eriksson has, among other things, together with former national team star Marcus Berg, who is also from Torsby, contributed financially to the renovation of the grass pitch.
The 29th of June will see "Svennis" celebrated by Torsby IF in connection with a match. Then, Walfridsson hopes that the name change of the pitch will be announced.
