Around 40 people have been shot dead in an attack on the village of Wad Oshaib in central Sudan, according to doctors and eyewitnesses.
According to eyewitness accounts, the village was attacked on Tuesday evening by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), which has been at war with the country's regular army since last year. The attack in the state of al-Jazira is said to have continued into Wednesday morning.
According to the UN, more than 340,000 people have been forced to flee the state due to fighting since October.
In total, over 11 million Sudanese have been forced to flee, most of them internally, since the civil war between the RSF and the military broke out in April last year.
