From and including March next year, restaurant guests will easily find information about the country of origin of the meat being served.
"Many consumers want to make informed choices about the food they eat, and then good information is a prerequisite," says Minister for Rural Affairs Peter Kullgren (KD) in a press release.
The new regulations have been developed by the National Food Agency, on behalf of the government. They cover the meat types that are already origin-labeled in stores: beef, pork, lamb, goat, and poultry.
In restaurants, guests will receive written or oral information, and if it is provided orally, it must be clearly stated how – for example, via a sign at the cash register.
