From 10 pm on Saturday evening, a warning from the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI) is in effect for snowfall in northernmost Jämtland, the inner parts of Västerbotten, and southern Norrbotten around Arvidsjaur. The weather warning issued on Friday was downgraded on Saturday morning.

It's a smaller area and smaller amounts of snow, says Linnea Rehn Wittskog, meteorologist at SMHI.

The bad weather will move in during the evening and then turn into rain, clearing up by Sunday morning. The earlier forecast indicated 10-15 centimeters of snow and extended further north than the current warning.

Now it looks like it will be around five centimeters, says Rehn Wittskog.

The reason SMHI is warning about the snowfall is that it's the first of the season in the area.

If this snowfall had occurred in the middle of winter, we wouldn't have issued a warning.

The deadline for switching to winter tires is October 1, and it's likely that many people haven't switched yet, according to SMHI.

If you venture out and drive in this weather, there's a risk that it could cause problems.
