Several of the leading Asian stock exchanges took significant leaps of joy after China's central bank announced a series of stimuli on Tuesday.
The mood was most jubilant in Hong Kong, where the Hang Seng index had risen by 3.3 percent by lunchtime.
The composite indices in Shanghai and Shenzhen also took a clear upward turn, rising by 2.4 and 2.3 percent, respectively.
In Tokyo, the key Nikkei 225 index rose by 0.7, while the broader Topix index grew by 0.6.
