Sjöström on the future: "Need to take it easy"

Sarah Sjöström wants to swim in an Olympic Games again. But the road there will not contain as many championships as before. If I'm going to swim in an Olympic Games again, it's about taking it a bit easy, she says.

Sjöström will have commitments in Paris until Tuesday, then it's time to head home.

But already on August 12, she will compete again in her own gala at Eriksdalsbadet in Stockholm, where she will try to break the world record on 50 meters freestyle and 50 meters butterfly in short course.

After that, she has no major plans in the pool. Outside, she is waiting for her wedding with her long-time fiancé Johan de Jong Skireus at the end of September in Italy.

I'm bad at being 100 percent off. Now the running season is starting and I can do some other training. I really enjoy being active and keeping going and training. But competitively, it will be a calm autumn, she says.

"A lot on the poolside"

In a longer perspective, she has no plans yet.

I'll be on the poolside a lot and I'm aiming to swim in Los Angeles. But what I do until then, I have no idea about. I'm very spontaneous, she says.

Sjöström will turn 31 later in August and gets the question if she can continue to develop or if it's about maintaining her current level.

I'll make a plan with the coach and see what we should do now. I won't top two golds in Los Angeles, then we'll see what we can do. I'll be proud just to be there at my sixth OS, if I make it there, she says.

Shy on the podium

Sjöström had her loved ones in the stands on Sunday but hasn't had time to meet them very much.

I got to kiss Johan and two friends. It was fantastic, really sweet, she says.

She enjoyed herself on the podium, but...

Today I got a bit shy, "I don't know how many millions of people are watching me now" I thought, she says with a laugh.
