At least eight people have died and more than 80 have been injured in a roof collapse in a shopping mall in Trujillo in northwestern Peru.
Three of the fatalities were minors, according to information from the Peruvian Ministry of the Interior.
The collapse occurred in a shopping mall in the city of Trujillo on Friday evening. A heavy roof fell onto a square with restaurants where many visitors were present. There was also a playground for children.
On Saturday morning, it was feared that several people were still trapped under the rubble and a large crane had been requested to assist in the work.
Trujillo is Peru's third largest city in terms of population. The shopping mall is the country's largest outside the capital city of Lima.
