In the evening of January 20, 2022, the Swedish and Danish state's power cable Konti-Skan 2 was left without power. Svenska kraftnät investigated the incident, including with an unmanned underwater vessel, which saw a drag mark from an anchor on the bottom.

The same evening as the cable break occurred, the Malta-flagged tanker Selin D, over 100 meters long, had passed through the area on its way from Latvia to Norway. During nine minutes, the vessel reduced its speed.

Svenska kraftnät contacted Säpo, the Swedish Armed Forces, and the police after the incident.

In September 2023, Svenska kraftnät sued the owners of the vessel for 64 million kronor. In the lawsuit, it is stated that "the vessel's master himself caused the damage through gross negligence and with the knowledge that such damage would likely occur", writes DN.

The shipping company's lawyers deny that the tanker pulled the cable, and that if the Maritime Court in Gothenburg finds it proven, it would have happened unintentionally. The case is still not settled.
