The low-conjuncture is leaving its mark on Swedish companies. Annual statistics from the business and credit information company UC show that over 10,000 limited companies were declared bankrupt last year, with a 100% increase in certain industries.

"The construction, retail, and hotel and restaurant industries have had it particularly tough," writes UC in a press release.

Looking ahead to 2025, UC notes that the number of bankruptcies decreased during the second half of 2024 and that there is some hope due to a lower interest rate, which can stimulate entrepreneurship.

"If we look to the coming year, there are however glimmers of light and signs of recovery. 2025 is still difficult to assess and it is too early to say that the economy will turn," writes UC.
