The Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI) has announced that the risk of fires in forests and land is high or very high in some areas.
This applies to southern and eastern Skåne, eastern Götaland, and eastern Svealand. But also parts of the areas that stretch a bit further west towards Vänern, where the Skaraborg region is also affected, says Max Schildt, meteorologist at SMHI.
SMHI wants to make people aware that it is dry outside and that there is a high risk of fires spreading easily.
The fire risk is due to a high-pressure system that has developed over southern Sweden.
Then we get more sunny and slightly drier weather. We have also had gusts, in connection with a low-pressure system located a bit further east over the Baltic, which makes the risk of fire spreading greater since the wind carries it away.
The fire risk applies primarily over the next two days.
If you are outdoors and moving around in nature to grill or light a fire, you should be aware of sparks that jump and where they go, says Max Schildt.
