Unexpectedly strong figures have been presented by two major construction companies for the second quarter of the year. Both Peab and NCC are positively surprising when it comes to order intake.
Construction company Peab reports a profit before tax of 522 million kronor for the second quarter of the year. This can be compared to a profit of 1.4 billion during the same quarter last year.
Net sales decreased to 15.2 billion, from 15.8 billion, while order intake increased to 16.4 billion from 12.5 billion.
The order intake was unexpectedly high. The average forecast was 14.9 billion according to Bloomberg.
"The order intake during the second quarter was still high and the order backlog exceeded 50 billion kronor for the first time in Peab's history", says Jesper Göransson, CEO of Peab, according to the interim report.
Minutes after the interim figures, the Peab share is up 2.6 percent for the day, or up 29 percent since the turn of the year.
Early on Tuesday morning, construction company NCC reported an unexpectedly high profit, sales, and order intake for the second quarter.
The NCC share is up more than 5 percent and has thus risen 22 percent since the turn of the year.
