After the landslide, the authorities believe that a smaller mountain is loose.
We suspect that the mountain has come loose back there, the part we can't see. And then it's unclear how much needs to be blasted away, likely a lot, says Barbro Evensen Venhagen at the Vegtrafikksentralen authority to NRK.
The work of blasting away rock masses on E6 begins on Monday, reports NTB. After that, the authorities hope to open one lane in each direction.
It was early on Saturday that large rocks fell onto the highway at Morskogen, about ten miles north of the Norwegian capital. No one was injured, but the road is now completely closed, and all traffic is being diverted. This means significant disruptions just when many Norwegians want to travel to and from ski slopes and other winter activities.
It can stand still for long periods. Load up or fill up, wear warm clothes, and not least, bring drinks and something to eat with you, advises Evensen Venhagen to motorists.
She also explains that Google Maps and other map services do not keep up with the temporary diversions, but urges everyone to only follow the Vegtrafikksentralen's route instructions.
