It was all green numbers on the New York Stock Exchange at the close on Friday. The technology-heavy Nasdaq increased by 0.9 percent, while the Dow Jones ended on a plus of 0.2 percent.
At the same time, the S&P 500 rose to a new historic record level during the day, with an increase of 0.5 percent. It is the second time this week that the record on the S&P 500 has been beaten, after the previous high note on Wednesday.
The US Department of Labor reported its job figures for June during the day. Despite the fact that more jobs were created than expected during the month – 206,000 – the stock market rose.
Among today's winners were several tech giants, including Facebook owner Meta, which rose by 5.9 percent. At the other end, among others, was the airline Southwest Airlines, which fell by 5.7 percent.
