Company leaders in the USA received a substantial average pay rise last year. The median salary for the CEOs of companies on the New York Stock Exchange's S&P 500 list, i.e. the 500 largest companies, increased by 7.7 percent last year to 19 million dollars.

The pay increase was thus the largest since 2021 and can be compared to an average increase of 3.6 percent on the American labor market, reports Financial Times.

The best paid of all was Rick Smith, CEO of the security company Axon Enterprise, who earned 164.5 million dollars. The CEO of the coffee chain Starbucks, Brian Niccol, landed in second place with a salary of 95.8 million dollars.
