A rare visitor has been spotted in Öresund. Photographer Bettina Pedersen was out on the water on Sunday when she suddenly caught sight of a humpback whale.
I got a shock when the whale appeared. It was absolutely fantastic, she says to Helsingborgs Dagblad / Sydsvenskan.
She was on the Swedish side of Öresund northwest of Helsingborg when the sea began to bubble. Then the whale surfaced.
Bettina Pedersen managed to photograph the humpback whale. She also called the manager of Öresundsakvariet in Helsingør, Jens Peder Jeppesen, who was also out on Öresund and saw the whale.
Yes, it's a humpback whale, I'm 99 percent sure. We have tons of video that we'll now go through, he says to Helsingør Dagblad, which first reported the event.
Although it's not the first time a humpback whale has been spotted in Öresund, it's very rare. Jens Peder Jeppesen believes it has happened two or three times in the past few years.
