A night in January, a 45-year-old man took back his car from Piteå police station's storage, reports Norran. He allegedly did so by ramming the gate with a tractor and lifting the car away, according to the indictment.

The man is already known to the police and has been convicted several times for serious drink-driving. In the end, the police decided to seize the man's car, which was placed in a locked storage facility at the police station.

But one morning, the gates to the storage facility were smashed and the car was gone, writes the newspaper.

Suspicions quickly fell on the man, and indeed, the car was found at his home, with a thick layer of snow and ice covering the windscreen and roof. There was also a tractor whose tyres matched the tracks inside the police storage facility. The car had been damaged in a way that matched a tractor fork, which was also found in the area.

He is being prosecuted for gross trespassing and disobedience to a public authority's decision.

The man denies the crime and allegedly said in an interview that "someone is messing with him".
