It became a relatively quiet Thursday on Wall Street. The leading indices on the New York stock exchange moved in different directions, but the movements were small.
The Dow Jones industrial index rose 0.2 percent, the Nasdaq composite index fell 0.1 percent, while the broad S&P 500 index closed unchanged.
During the day's trading, the semiconductor giant NVIDIA's stock value increased to over $3 trillion. On Thursday, the stock fell back, NVIDIA closed down 1.1 percent.
The low-cost chains Big Lots and Five Below released quarterly reports that did not taste good to investors. The companies' shares lost 18.2 and 10.6 percent respectively.
