The American central bank, Fed, lowered the interest rate by 50 points earlier in September - more than many experts had expected.
Fed Chairman Jerome Powell emphasized in a speech on Monday that future potential rate cuts will not necessarily be as large. According to CNBC, Powell hinted that two additional rate cuts of 25 points each are likely this year, provided no dramatic changes occur in the American economy.
At the same time, he once again stressed that Fed's monetary policy committee - which makes decisions on interest rates - does not have a preset view on how to adjust the interest rate at the November meeting. Both upcoming inflation figures and employment reports will play a role.
This is not a committee that feels it has to lower the interest rate quickly, said Powell in the brief speech he held in connection with a meeting in Nashville.
