The play "Amadeus" was written by Peter Shaffer and had its world premiere in 1979. The film adaptation by Forman was awarded eight Oscars in 1984.
In the new Swedish version, Philip Zandén plays the bitter Salieri and Simon Reithner the genius, but also vulgar Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
The role of Emperor Josef II is played by comedian Per Andersson, known from, among other things, "The Book of Mormon" and his own show "Räkhäst".
"I'm incredibly excited and a little scared to set foot on the Kulturhuset Stadsteatern's stage for the first time. The role of Emperor Josef II fits me perfectly since we have a few things in common. We both have incredibly good hair, are possibly a bit naive, and appreciate good music," says Per Andersson in a press release.
The performance, directed by Sunil Munshi, premieres on February 7.
