A patient at an LSS accommodation died of starvation last year.
The private accommodation in Enköping municipality is now being criticized by IVO, the Health and Social Care Inspectorate, which believes that the man's death was caused by dehydration, starvation, and neglect, according to Enköpingsposten.
The man received hospital care for an infection when the doctor discovered that the patient had lost 20 kilograms in two months and weighed under 50 kilograms. The man died a month after being admitted to the hospital.
According to the care provider's own report to IVO under the Lex Maria regulations, the accommodation's failure to detect the man's deteriorating condition led to his death, which IVO agrees with.
According to IVO's decision, the patient began to feel worse after moving to the accommodation, he stopped eating and was unable to speak.
An LSS accommodation is a specially adapted living arrangement for people with extensive disabilities who need support in their daily lives.
