Containers have been stacked up against the facade to prevent a possible collapse, reports Helsingborgs Dagblad.

It was on Friday evening, December 27, that the first alarm came in about a fire at Hotel Kärnan in central Helsingborg. The fire spread in the old building, which suffered extensive damage.

At ten o'clock, the rescue service will conclude the rescue operation, and then the responsibility will be transferred to the property owner and insurance company, says Morgan Belletti Bengtsson, incident commander at the rescue service, to the newspaper.

The rescue operation in connection with the fire has been enormous, according to Belletti Bengtsson.

Since it is an older building with only wood inside and stable facades, we have had to work with cranes and lifting. It has been very difficult and time-consuming.
