The woman was attacked by a 25-year-old man at 19:40 on Tuesday and was so severely injured that she later died at the hospital.
According to information provided to several media outlets, the woman was employed at the store. However, this is something the police do not want to comment on.
At present, we have not found anything indicating a relationship between the individuals, but it is of course something the investigation will have to show, says Niklas Berglund, duty officer at the Stockholm police.
The police have seized a knife that the perpetrator is suspected of having used and are working to try to map out the sequence of events.
We do not yet know if the knife he used came from the store or if he brought it with him, says Niklas Berglund.
Nothing suggests that more perpetrators were involved than the 25-year-old murder suspect. The man was apprehended by a security guard in the store.
It is unclear whether he gave up and surrendered or was overpowered when he tried to flee, says Niklas Berglund.
Several people were in the store when the knife attack occurred, but it is still unknown if there are witnesses to the actual event.
This is something we are trying to map out now, together with the motive behind the act, and hopefully we will know soon, says Niklas Berglund.
According to information provided to Aftonbladet, the man was arrested during the night, suspected of murder.
