One person has been injured in a shooting in Hovsjö in Södertälje. Several people have been arrested near the crime scene, according to the police.

The police were alerted on Tuesday afternoon by people who claimed to have witnessed an outdoor shooting.

One person has been taken to hospital, says Ola Nilsson at SOS Alarm.

The extent of the injuries is not known. The shooting is being investigated as an attempted murder.

But that may change as the investigation progresses, says police spokesperson Robert Sennerdal.

The police do not want to say how many people have been arrested.

The arrests are related to the shooting, but what role these individuals have played will be revealed by the investigation.

Images show that a weapon has been found in a thicket.

The police are conducting a technical investigation of the site and have questioned witnesses.

We are interested in all observations, says Robert Sennerdal.

It is too early to say whether the police are investigating links to previous violent incidents in Södertälje, according to Robert Sennerdal. But he says the police are "investigating broadly".

Several serious violent crimes have been committed in Södertälje in recent days. On Monday evening, a suspected hand grenade exploded in a store in the Geneta district. A woman who was injured was taken to hospital. Two teenagers have been arrested on suspicion of involvement in the incident.

On Saturday evening, a villa was shot at with multiple shots. Also on Saturday morning, a multi-family house was shot at in another area.

On July 6, the police established a visitation zone in parts of Södertälje after a man was shot dead in the Blombacka area on July 2. The visitation zone was lifted on Friday.
