The task is confirmed for Hufvudstadsbladet by a source within the government administration with insight into the case.

The preliminary investigation is still ongoing, and the authorities have not yet drawn any definitive conclusion, but since they have not been able to prove intent, the incident will likely be assessed as an accident, the newspaper writes.

The police are examining the ship's computers and the crew's phones to investigate whether anyone in the crew may have caused the cable break.

Earlier in the week, The Washington Post reported that security services in the USA and Europe have not found any evidence that the cable breaks that have occurred in the Baltic Sea in recent months are due to sabotage.

The newspaper stated that they had spoken to an official from one of the Nordic countries who has insight into the ongoing investigation.

We have assumed that the "shadow fleet's" condition has been poor, but it's worse than we thought, the official told The Washington Post.
