It is Crew-9, an example of Space X's space capsule Dragon, that has now been flown up "half-empty" to the ISS, and docked during the night to Monday Swedish time. On board the Dragon were two astronauts instead of four, to make room for Williams and Wilmore for their return journey.
Crew-9 was flown up by Aleksandr Gorbunov from Russia and Nick Hague from the USA. Their mission will last until next March, which means that Williams and Wilmore will have to wait until then before they go home.
The plan was for Americans Williams and Wilmore to spend around eight days in space, but now it will be more than eight months. The reason is persistent technical problems with Starliner, Boeing's new space capsule that they went up in. The trouble meant that the space agency NASA did not dare let astronauts travel back when Starliner returned to Earth.
The problems are a major setback for the aviation and defense giant Boeing in the space race with competitors like Space X.
